What are the INKYs?
The INKYs are awards developed to give recognition to broadcast industry media
folks that are highly regarded throughout the industry. There are a lot of
hardworking folks out there that deserve a good pat on the back for all that they do
on a daily basis. The INKYs is a way of doing just that.
Who can nominate for the INKYs?
Anyone in the broadcast industry can nominate. Practically everyone comes in
contact with a trade publication or website in some form or another. Industry
vendors, veterans, and colleagues are encouraged to enter nominees.
What are the categories?
There are five categories for the INKYs, which are:
Excellent Editor
Stupendous Staff Reporter or Writer
Fab Freelancer
Unsung Behind the Scenes Hero
Kick-Butt Sales Rep
NOTE: These five categories may be divided between domestic (USA) and
international.
What is the award criteria?
We’re looking for those gems that make life easier. Nominate people based on
stellar writing, staying ahead of the game, or dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s.
You decide what makes them stand out and tell us why.
How are they judged?
Entries are judged based on a) the number of nominations an individual receives
and b) the written portion of the entry. Note that careful attention is paid to what is
written about a nominee…we’re looking for quality over quantity.
How much does it cost to enter?
It costs nothing to enter the INKYs.
When are the results shared?
Winners are announced at the ceremony at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.
Nominees are announced prior and will be listed on the website two weeks after
nominations are closed.
Where is the INKYs awards ceremony held?
The INKYs ceremony is held in Las Vegas during the NAB Show. Time, date, and

We don’t give away all of our secrets, but we will tell you that
Lauren came up with the concepts and decided upon a final
design.
Why the INKYs?
First, umm…why NOT? Secondly, because there was a clear need
to recognize the people in the trenches that keep the industry
informed and on top of the latest trends. And, if you’re wondering
why Inky the pug…well, she’s pretty persnickety. She likes details
and appreciates a job well done. She represents the integrity and
grit that it takes to pound the pavement to do things in a
professional manner. Besides, she looks better as a statue than so
many other things we could have chosen.

Inky is a precious black pug named for her coat that looks like a
beautiful black ink. She’s one of the pug mascots for LOI
