Inky and Sarge of Lauren Originals, Inc. selected ‘posterpugs’ for Ohio Pug Rescue Society 8th Annual Picnic & Reunion
10 May 2006 Mason, OH; Columbus, OH; Westminster, CO
It started with a web inquiry from Ohio Pug Rescue that created the perfect charitable opportunity for Lauren Originals, Inc. The inquiry asked if Inky and Sarge (two lucky pugs formerly in OPRs care) would like to represent OPR for its picnic invites with the whimsical artwork painted by Veronica Blazewicz (Vern) that is currently on the Lauren Originals direct marketing materials. Knowing that the organization didn’t have the budget to commission artwork much less print the invitations in color- the way that would do the art justice- LOI offered to incur the expense. Meanwhile, Vern (who is not only an artist and dog lover, but regular donor of items to rescues) donated the licensing rights for the materials.
Getting this done had to be done ASAP so that the OPR mail list would get the invitations well in advance of the picnic and reunion. The 8th annual picnic and reunion is being held on Saturday May 20th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Whitehall Community Park located at 402 Hamilton Road in Columbus, Ohio. This is a new location because the event outgrew its former location.
Terri Wolf, President and Rescue Coordinator for the Ohio Pug Rescue Society, said, “It seemed like a perfect fit: having Inky and Sarge represent what OPR stands for. Inky is a black pug while Sarge is fawn. They came to us as rescue dogs in 2000 and were adopted by the Darr household. I kept getting the post cards with the artwork that is whimsical and fun- like a pug personality- and decided to send Lauren an email asking Inky and Sarge if they’d like to be our official mascots.”
“When I saw Terri’s email, I was so excited. I didn’t hesitate in offering to commission the art and have the invitations for the picnic and reunion printed as a donation. It’s the least I could do considering how Inky and Sarge have become a huge part of both my personal and professional life,” said Lauren L. Darr, President of Lauren Originals, Inc.
